At 1st – The Exchange we like you to know who we are. Here are a few of the key people that make up our team.

David sits on the Executive Board for 1st – The Exchange. David joined The Exchange from Marlborough Stirling, in 2003 as Chief Operating Officer and was appointed as Managing Director in 2004. He was responsible for guiding The Exchange through its development and maintaining its market leading position of the Exweb portal and the acquisition of 1st.

Prior to joining Marlborough Stirling, David was commercial director at AssureWeb. Before this, David held a number of directorships within the DBS network, focusing on IT and compliance and held various management roles at the M&E Network and the Bank of England.

Paul has over 20 years of experience designing and delivering innovative technology solutions for the distribution of financial services. His proven strategy and business development experience has seen him help build and manage a range of technology and financial services businesses.

Paul joined The Exchange in 2004 from Misys PLC where he held the position of Sales Technology Director. Prior to joining Misys, he was Associate Director at CMG. Paul was recruited to develop and execute The Exchange's business strategy, leading to the acquisition of 1st in 2006. Paul currently sits on the Executive Board and retains responsibility for strategy across 1st – The Exchange, as well as marketing, propositions and business management.

Kevin joined 1st as Commercial Director in April 2004 from Misys plc, where he was Finance Director and then Operations Director of Sesame.

With over 17 years of industry experience Kevin’s roles have also included non-executive director of 1st from 1996, helping to set up the business, looking after the interests of Financial Options and then Misys plc.

Kevin is an FCA and has responsibility for finance at 1st – The Exchange. He also shares day to day operational control of the business with Paul Yates. Kevin has extensive experience of corporate activity, mergers and acquisitions including leading the sale of 1st to Vertex.

Howard joined the Exchange in 2000 to run the development of the Exweb portal and was promoted to the board in 2004. During this time he has managed the Exchange through a period of significant growth in both the user base and services provided to ensure Exweb remains the UK’s leading IFA portal. In his role as Portal Delivery Director he is now responsible for the continued operations and development of the Exweb Portal within 1st – The Exchange.

Prior to joining The Exchange, Howard was with Marks & Spencer for 10 years in a variety of technology and management roles across the company, including retail Financial Services.

Jon was promoted to Chief Technology Officer with 1st – The Exchange in October 2008. Jon formed a business in 1997, which developed the Officeweb product for the financial services market.

The business was acquired by Crisp Computing in 2000, which was subsequently acquired by The Exchange. Jon has worked in software delivery and development to the financial services industry for 21 years in a range of technologies and products. Jon is responsible for desktop product development and delivery within 1st – The Exchange.

Julia joined Marlborough Stirling in 2000 and is a fully qualified HR professional; she will sit on the Senior Management Team of 1st – The Exchange, managing both strategic and operational HR activities.

Julia has provided HR management and support to The Exchange since its acquisition by Marlborough Stirling in 2001. She was also the HR lead for the acquisition of 1st in 2006 and the subsequent integration of 1st – The Exchange. Within the wider Vertex, Julia has also supported the Mortgages and Life and Pensions business areas, and more recently managed the corporate Change and Implementation Team becoming a subject matter expert for key HR strategic change initiatives.
